What an awesome fishing trip, so much action!!

Great stuff as usual. But I want to start a thing about one fish that was caught and named a saddle tail, but counted as a large mouth nanny. They are two different species, a saddle tail is a fairly uncommon capture but if you have both large mouth and small mouth nannies and compare with a real saddle tail you will see that all three are in fact different fish. The older Grant's guide correctly listed the saddle tail as a separate species but the newer versions don't? If you actually catch one your going to see that the head shape is not the same it's a concave forhead like a paddle tail. They may be a hybrid between large and small mouth, but definitely different. I've had this argument many times, but I've caught one and they are not large mouth nannies. Cheers.

Id imagine it would be good for fishing addiction. Not selling nets at addict tackle.. The Australian ecosystems are getting smashed and older fishing methods are definitely the cause or adding to the damage. Sad for the commercial fisho who needs to feed his family but nothing wrong with line caught barramundi, just no gill nets...

Makes it very hard for pro fishos. We've had a fresh fish place in Maryborough Qld close up because of this. Tough if you like fish and can't go fishing yourself.

It's a good thing I think like you said there will be job losses i used to buy it when I was in Western Australia but I live in Queensland now so can go take the boat go snag some.

As a fisherman you should be delighted you live somewhere where they actually want to protect fish. It’s very frustrating living almost anywhere else in Asia and just have to watch people carry on with zero regard for the fish population and for future fishing.

I believe there needs to be a balance between commercial and recreational. Remember the livelihoods of the commercial fishermen are badly affected here. I don't want to be eating imported seafood. I grew up with trawlers and they were friendly family people and it is passed down from generation to generation. What will follow will be restrictions for recreational fishers as well. 🤠🎣🐟

Years back I use to train a few folks scuba diving. Use to drop in there near the mouth of the tweed. Man there was some big females there,heads like shovels. Love your show ,up here in nth Qld. Kurrimine beach. 👍👍
